I have been blogging for a little over four years now and have learned so much in those years. I have a good content management system right now, but who knows what I’ll need in five years. I must admit it’s great having family members who are tech savvy because they have helped me a lot. But it may not always be convenient time-wise for them to help me in the future, and so a great CMS is something I’m glad to have.
What would be nice to have would be a site search engine to enable me to help visitors to my site find what they’re looking for on their first visit. I feel like so many older posts get buried and most people don’t realize they’re on the site. Seems like it would be efficient to have a complete index of my most relevant posts.
I would really like to have online marketing tools that would integrate data from various sources such as the web, social media, and mobile interactions. I have some info, but it would be so much more effective to have more extensive data and to have it all integrated.

It’s just a little over two months before the big BlogHer Conference in San Diego, California, this August. There are supposed to be over 3,000 bloggers from around the world in attendance. Table top displays will probably be in abundance, I imagine, and 30 different sessions are available to choose from. I would love to go to a BlogHer Conference sometime, but the timing on this one is too close to the beginning of school to even consider it!
If any of you were trying to get to my recipe for the Fresh Fruit and Angel Food Cake by clicking on the picture in my slideshow, I am so sorry! Our son (who created the slideshow box you see at the top of my sidebar) is home from college, and he noticed that the picture didn’t link to the recipe but to WordWorld T-Shirts. It’s corrected now and should work fine!
No, it’s not our daughter’s birthday but her blog, Frugal Novice, is one year old today. She is celebrating with a new theme and four great giveaways throughout today. If you haven’t visited Frugal Novice before, go over and say, “Happy Birthday,” if you have the time. I think you’ll enjoy your visit! Frugal Novice is on Facebook, too, and also on Twitter.
It would be interesting to know how many of my readers are bloggers and how many are non-bloggers, meaning that they don’t have their own blog. Anyone wanting to start up their own blog has to consider whether they want managed hosting, what type of theme they want, and other considerations. They also need to brainstorm a niche for their blog and what voice they will use for writing. After setting up a blog and doing some social networking, they would most likely develop several new blogging friends. That’s one of the best things about blogging!

I won the giveaway for a bag of 3 Sugar-Free Ring Pops from Chrissy at Happy Mom of 5.
I commented how the ring pops brought back memories of when our kids were little and liked them. Christi and our son both thought they were cool!
Here’s a picture of Christi (Frugal Novice) and me taken a couple of weeks ago. Thought it would be appropriate to have a picture of mother & daughter bloggers for Mother’s Day. Thinking about Mother’s Day brings back happy memories not only of my own mother but also thoughts of how proud we are of our own two children and son-in-law. They’re all such a blessing! Our daughter, Christi, is a mother herself of two of the most adorable, most precious little boys (our grandsons). And that reminds me of a song my husband used to sing before Christi was born and throughout her life. I must admit the song brings tears to my eyes sometimes. Here’s part of the song:
Where are you going, my little one, little one
Where are you going, my baby my own.
Turn around you’re two, turn around you’re four
Turn around and you’re a young girl going out of the door.
Turn around, turn around,
Turn around and you’re a young girl going out of the door.
Where are you going, my little one, little one.
Where are you going, my baby my own.
Turn around… you’re small, turn around… you’re grown.
Turn around and you’re a young wife with babes of your own.
Turn around, turn around
Turn around and you’re a young wife with babes of your own.“
Here’s a picture of Christi and me taken 28 years ago. Isn’t she precious!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS WHO ARE READING THIS!
Finally after blogging for over two and a half years, I’m putting a picture of myself on Healthy Home Blog. For a long time, it was because of the privacy issue. Then for a while it was because I didn’t have any pictures of me by myself. Recently, though, because of my daughter putting pictures of herself, our s-i-l, and our young grandsons on her blog and because of Lori’s post from a Cowboy’s Wife, I’ve decided that I really should put pictures on here to make it more personable. Our son took a picture of me recently that I decided to post. It’s pretty much how I look half of the time. Sometimes I will wear my hear down, but I like to pull it back, twist it and put it up in a clip when the weather gets warm (or I’m having a bad hair day).
For those of you who are not familiar with UBP10, that stands for the “Ultimate Blog Party 2010″ which is hosted yearly by 5MinutesForMom.com and involves hundreds of people. It’s a great way to meet new bloggers, discover a lot of great blogs, and also have a chance to win some awesome prizes. I’ve discovered several new blogs that I’ll enjoy visiting again, and here are three of them:
