This summer has flown by so fast. In fact, time is passing so fast! Before we know it, it will be Valentine’s Day and people will be thinking about gifts and flowers to give their sweetheart, possibly checking out Boston Valentine’s Day flowers. It’s a nice time of year when people are thinking of others and are giving gifts from the heart. It’s not only for sweethearts, but people also like to send flowers to their grandmother, aunt, or maybe someone who needs cheering up on this special day. And what a good way to cheer someone up with a beautiful arrangement of flowers.

Valentine’s Day Giveaway: “Fireproof

This Valentine’s Day giveaway is dedicated to “love in marriage.” The theme song for my giveaway is not one from the “Fireproof” movie soundtrack, but this one:

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! To celebrate this day, I’m having a giveaway for the DVD “Fireproof.” My theme for this giveaway is “Love in marriage.” If you haven’t heard of “Fireproof,” it’s a great movie about saving a marriage that’s on the brink of divorce. All hope seems lost for any chance to save the marriage, but through practicing an active love that meets the needs of the other person, the marriage in the movie was saved. Not only was it saved, but it transformed into a beautiful relationship, deeper than ever before, because it was based on true, agape-type love. This doesn’t just happen in movies. I’ve read about real accounts of this happening, and I’ve seen it happen in the lives of two girlfriends of mine, one several years ago and the other, many years ago. So what the movie portrays is not just a bunch of hype. It’s real!

Even though marriage can be hard at times, a couple is in it together and can still “dance” even when times are stormy because of the agape love they have for each other and the commitment…the promise…they have made to each other. But more importantly…the promise they have made before God. So if you know someone who’s marriage is falling apart, maybe you could tell them about this giveaway, or you could enter the giveaway and give the DVD to them if you win. Or maybe, like us, you really like the movie and would like to have your own copy of it. Either way, here’s the scoop:

Very Special Rings

Valentine’s Day is just less than one month away. I wonder how many will be getting promise rings or maybe even engagement rings? I remember very clearly when my husband gave me my engagement ring. A few days after he proposed, we went looking at rings and picked out the style we liked. The jeweler checked the size of my ring finger and the ring was ordered. The surprise was that I didn’t know when the ring was going to be ready. Even though I knew I was getting an engagement ring, I remember how special it was when my husband surprised me with the ring box and then put the ring on my finger.

We still have our wedding rings although my husband wears a newer, nicer band that I got him years ago. I still wear my original engagement and wedding rings plus an anniversary ring that my husband bought me around the time I got him a new band. All of these rings are very special to us because they symbolize the unending love between us!

Marriage Help

Marriage takes a lot of work…but it’s worth it! Think back to the days of dating. It took work to get ready for dates. We made sure our hair and make-up looked nice. We paid attention to how we looked. That’s important in marriage, too, no matter how long a couple has been married. Remember how we talked and talked and got to know each other? We wanted to find out about each other and communication was important. Communication is extremely important in marriage! If there’s a problem in this area, there are ways to work on it. Marriage counseling has helped countless couples to overcome barriers and learn to communicate more effectively. Nearly every marriage has some degree of problems, but some marriages have more marriage problems than others and it takes an active approach to solve the problems.

Marriage is a commitment to love someone no matter what happens in life. If your marriage is in trouble, get help! There are people who can give you advice on how to save a marriage. It’s definitely worth it!

Great Books!

There are a lot of good books on the market nowadays such as Fireproof and The Love Dare. There has been a lot of talk about these two books being such great books to read. These are books I eventually want to get.

There are also other good fiction books on the market, too. I like to look at Christian books for these. Janette Oke is one of my favorite authors in this category, and I have read several of her books and have more that I want to read.

“Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Proverbs 12:18 (Harsh words can pierce someone’s heart, but wise words will bring healing to a relationship.)
“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 (A soft answer makes it easier for the listener to hear what is actually being said rather than reacting to harsh words or a harsh voice.)
“A person finds joy in giving an appropriate reply, and how good is a timely word.” Proverbs 15:23 (The right words said at the right time are good, and we can be happy about it. Sometimes we need to wait for the right time to say certain things.)
