“Not to worry!”….how do we not worry when we read the newspaper headlines?  (but there is a way) Yesterday I read the newspaper headline and it caught my attention.  I thought, “Wow, what’s up with Russia!!”  I remember as a child having bomb drills at school where we would crouch and get under our desks and try to protect our heads.  We all had a fear of Russia bombing our country.  And now Russia has produced this new super powerful bomb that is four times more powerful than ours.  Recently they’ve been flying their long-range bomber planes close to U. S. and NATO airspace, within range to reach the U. S.  They claim they don’t have nuclear bombs on the planes, but who knows for sure.  So now we have the Russians to add to our list of concerns along with terrorists, etc.

I’m  so thankful that I can turn all of my concerns and worries over to God.  He tells me in the book of Philippians in the Bible to rejoice in the Lord, to have no anxiety about anything, “not to worry,” but to pray to him and remember what I have to be thankful for.  And God’s peace, which passes all understanding, guards my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus.  When I truly do that, then I do have that peace.  It’s happened over and over again.  But when I end up worrying, then I don’t have that peace.  So it’s a matter of choice and sometimes it takes concentrated effort and asking God to help me not to worry.  My goal is always to choose “not to worry!”
