Pets

I miss having a little dog around the house sometimes.  We had our dog for over 16 years and she was like a part of our family.  Sometime in the next couple of years,  it would be nice to start looking around for another dog.  If we ever do get one, we’ll have to look at pet beds, collars, leashes, and all the things that dogs need.  Plus, there will be shots to get, food to buy, etc.   But what makes it all worth it is having a friendly little face greet you when you come home every day and having it cuddle up in your lap.

Online Health Assessments

This year, our school took part in a community health fair.  That got me to thinking why not have an online health fair for my readers.  This is not comprehensive, but here are some good links for simple assessments that I found:

Musicians

Living with a musician (my husband plays guitar and entertains a few places and also plays violin with an orchestra), I’m used to having musical instruments, amps, microphones, etc., around the house.  Do any of you have musicians in your house and know what I’m talking about?

Some people go full time and get professional items such as a mxl 990 microphone and other professional equipment.  My husband even plays in the orchestra with someone who has a large room devoted to music upstairs in his house.  Now that would be a music lover’s dream!

Musical Instruments

I’ve mentioned before that we used to have a music store a long time ago.  We had guitars, violins, small drums, keyboards, and brass instruments for sale.  Band students would come to our store to get instruments for school, as well as the music they needed.  Guitar and violin students would come for lessons (my husband was the guitar and violin teacher), and we even had a piano teacher come in to teach piano lessons (on the piano my parents bought me when I was in seventh grade).   Do you play any instruments?

Peeps

Here’s a couple of interesting facts about Peeps.  Way back in 1953, it took 27 hours to create one Peeps chick.  Today, it only takes six minutes.  Quite a difference!  Also, there have been enough Peeps produced to circle the earth twice.  That’s a lot!  Peeps were nearly always in our kids’ Easter baskets as they were growing up, in various colors from year to year.  I think my favorite color has been yellow.   What’s your favorite color?

Wedding Photographers

Photography studios such as raleigh wedding photographers have creative ways of taking wedding pictures nowadays.  Now that our son is engaged to be married this summer, they have been arranging all the things that go along with a wedding such as engagement pictures, wedding pictures, flowers, wedding cakes, food, etc.  I’m looking forward to seeing their engagement pictures because the photographer is planning on taking their pictures at a site that’s supposed to be really good.  Exciting times!

Dry Shampoo

I remember when I was growing up, there was a popular dry shampoo that came in an aerosol can.  It really was handy to use when there wasn’t time to shampoo hair or to use while traveling.  Now, there is a more natural, non-aerosol brand called klorane dry shampoo which might be handy for moms with young children who can’t find time to wash their hair on a busy day or a day when the kids won’t take a nap.

Workshops

Some people have workshops in their backyards or garages.  One of our neighbors has a workshop in their garage.  I don’t know if he has hydraulic power workholding or what types of machines he has, but I do know he works in it a lot and sometimes his son is out there with him.  I have no idea what he makes in his workshop but he does seem to enjoy being out there.  Maybe just puttering around in the garage is therapeutic for him and he doesn’t always have to be making something.

Dog Beds

We have several friends who have dogs.  A couple of the dogs are getting up in years, and I wonder if they could use orthopedic dog beds.   Our dog that we had for years and years just slept in a regular dog bed and did fine, but some dogs who have arthritis and other ailments might be more comfortable on a special bed.
