Interested in Buying a Franchise?

franchise-gator-logo-3-19-09Nowadays, people are looking outside the box, so to speak, to find various ways to make a living.  They’re exploring what talents they have, what opportunities are available, and maybe looking into what franchises are for sale.  They want an honest way to make a good living for their family.  There are franchises available in most states, so if this is something you’re interested in then research, find people who are already in that particular line of work and ask them lots of questions.  See if that franchise would be best for you.

Saving Money

There are so many expenses for people such as home insurance, auto insurance, health insurance, utilities, rent or mortgage payment, car payment, and the list goes on and on. That’s why it’s so important to compare insurance quotes and find the best deal. Saving money wherever possible adds up.  With money being tight for a lot of people, saving money on insurance allows money to spent on other things.

For Your Business

receipt-printer-3-6-091If someone had a business, a receipt printer would be a great thing to have. Customers like receipts, and it’s nice to have a printed receipt to give them.  I went to a huge consignment sale last fall that had baby clothes and anything related to babies and toddlers.  They had a receipt printer there this last time, and it made things run so much smoother than the previous time.  It was a great help to all the people working there!

Flash Drives Amaze Me!

My husband has a flash drive that he uses to transfer information between computers. It amazes me how tiny the flash drive is, yet it can hold so much data.   Decades ago, they would have thought people were crazy if they talked about something like that.  I remember hearing how computers used to fill up a room and used data entry cards.  Things have really changed since then.

Where to Exit?

exit-sign-2-12-09Need emergency lights?  If you have a business, even a small business, then you need to have an exit sign.  I think businesses are supposed to have them over every exit, which I think is a great idea.  If there really is an emergency, most people are not in “thinking” mode but are in “panic” mode.  An easy to read sign doesn’t require any thinking but guides people to where they can go out of the building.

(Some moms might want one of these signs for the friends of their teenager.  Just kidding!)

What Works Best

Some people want to know the best diet pills out there on the market. As far as I’m concerned, I try to lose weight by eating smaller meals, trying to eat healthy meals, having healthy snacks a couple of times during the day, and exercising. I allow myself to have small servings of things I like such as a special dessert or dark chocolate.  Each person has to decide what works best for them, and if they do use diet pills then they should first consult their doctor.

If I Had a Business…

barcode_scanner-2-8-09Years and years ago, we used to have a small business.  It would have made things so much easier if we’d had POSGuys, but back then there weren’t any stores or businesses that I know of that had scanners.

Barcode scanners have simplified things so much, especially since so many businesses are computerized.  And one really great benefit is when it is time to do inventory.  (That was always such a pain!)  A scanner would make doing inventory so much easier!

January!

I am sick again, second time since New Year’s, so I have been sick or “under the weather” most of January.  This time I have chest congestion, and yesterday my fever went up to 102 degrees.  I’m feeling much better today.   Needless to say, I haven’t felt like eating a whole lot.  I have lost the weight I gained during the holidays, so I don’t need a diet pill to help me lose weight.  Hope all of y’all are staying well and not getting sick!

Eating During the Holidays

I was doing so well on not overdoing it until the week before Christmas.  I was making different kinds of cookies for different things, and I ate too many cookies.  I didn’t gorge or anything, but I ate more than I meant to.  Warm cookies out of the oven are just too good!   And then at my mother-in-law’s, we had warm sugar cookies fresh out of the oven.  Well, you can imagine!

Now that the holidays are past, I don’t plan to be making any more cookies anytime soon.  I did have a virus right after New Year’s, so I lost my taste for sweet things…at least for a week.   I lost most of what I had gained, so I won’t be needing any diet pills.

Bringing in More Income

With the high cost of gas during the fall plus other economic concerns, people are looking for jobs.  People are looking to bring in more income.  Some of them might consider retail franchises as a possibility.  Some might consider working from home or starting up their own business.   One good idea is to brainstorm all the possibilities, write them all down on paper, and check them out one by one.

My Christmas Card to You: “Oh Holy Night” Sung by Celine Dion – Followed by the Origin of Christmas

To all my readers and blogging friends, I sincerely wish you and your family a special Christmas this year.  Even in the midst of all our problems, whether economic or other, we have all been blessed with the most awesome gift of all times…the greatest treasure we could ever have – God reaching down to man, giving his only Son to be our Savior! Here’s a video of Celine Dion singing “Oh Holy Night” and then following is the true story of Christmas taken from the Bible, the book of Luke, parts of chapters 1 & 2.

Luke Chapter 1: verses 26-37

The Birth of Jesus Foretold / A Virgin Conceives

26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!”

29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!”

34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”

35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. 36 What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she’s now in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God.”

Luke Chapter 2: verses 1-20

The Birth of Jesus

1 At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. 2 (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. 4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. 5 He took with him Mary, his fiancée, who was now obviously pregnant.

6 And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. 7 She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.

The Shepherds and Angels

8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. 910 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! 12 And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified,

13 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

15 When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. 17 After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. 18 All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, 19 but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. 20 The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.
