We have so many things hooked up to our main TV in the living room. We have Tivo, a DVD player, a VHS player (yes…we still have it because we have so many movies that are VHS tapes, including lots of children’s videos that will be great for Baby J when he’s older), and also the Wii. It’s great having a Video Switch Box to make it easy to switch from one to the other. HDMI switches are a wonderful invention!

Globe Life: Term Life Insurance
$1 buys the first month of adult term life insurance through Globe Life. After that, the monthly rates are as low as $3.27 for adults. If you do not have insurance, I strongly recommend checking into term life insurance. I’ve heard of how hard it is for families when tragedy occurs and the family does not have it. In that situation, it really does make a difference!
This Award is Much Appreciated!
My thanks to Rebecca at Creating Wealth and Health for giving me this award. Her blog has some great information on nutrition, organics, herbs, and other things. The award comes from the “Arte y Pico” blog.
Now I’m supposed to pass on this award and here are the rules:
1) Pick five (5) blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4) Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award which is here
OK, now I get to choose five blogs. There were several that I wanted to choose, but I narrowed it down to five. I tried to choose blogs that have not received the award, and here they are in alphabetical order:
Mari at A Housewife’s Journal
Val at Fun, Crafts and Recipes
Jude at The Beauty Denominator
Angie at Vibrant Healthy U
(Like I mentioned, I wish I could have chosen more!)
Business Transactions From Our Computers
It’s amazing how many business transactions we can carry on in the privacy of our own homes, wearing our pajamas if we want to. We can complete banking and credit card transactions, shop online and buy just about any type of merchandise, and in some places order groceries and have them delivered. People can buy stock from companies such as Transworld Futures, an online futures broker. Most people probably didn’t realize twenty years ago what all we would be able to do on the computer in the future. I know I didn’t!
New Flight Charters
Wouldn’t it be fun to have a jet charter and take the whole family, relatives, and close friends on a trip to anywhere in the world? I imagine that doesn’t happen every day, but there are people who do fly often on private jets for business purposes. Many businesses rely on this type of travel. As for me, I guess I will just dream about it.
Gravity Defying Houses
Check out these gravity defying houses! You’ve got to see the pictures! The people who designed them definitely do not lack imagination or creativity. I would enjoy getting to take a tour inside all of the houses just to see what they look like on the inside, but I can’t imagine living in them!
Promotional Pens for Bloggers?
I imagine most people have seen promotional pens that have company names on them. Well, I used my imagination and wondered what it would be like if bloggers put the name of their blog on those type of pens and passed them out in their local area. That might be a good idea for a few bloggers. It’s not something I would do, but I can see a possibility of it working for some blogs.
Glutathione – Great for Weight Loss
Glutathione, which occurs naturally in some foods, helps in keeping down weight, according to studies done at the University of Michigan. Now that I’m older and gain weight easier, I’m looking for healthy ideas…but not boring or tasteless ones! Here are some foods which are rich in glutathione and are definitely not boring or tasteless:
- Avocados (We love fresh made quacamole! So yummy! In fact, I think I’ll make some for supper tonight.)
- Grapefruit (A nice juicy grapefruit is overflowing with flavor! For a refreshing summer treat, serve sweetened fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice over ice.)
- Oranges (Peel and pull apart into sections – great snack food!)
- Tomatoes (Served fresh in a salad, fresh slices drizzled with olive oil & salt/pepper, salsa with added fresh chopped tomatoes & onion, or spaghetti sauce over a one cup serving of pasta)
- Potatoes (baked with low-fat toppings, Low-Fat Mashed Potatoes)
Fiber – Great for Weight Loss
Trying to lose weight? Many consider fiber one of the best weight loss tools. Not only does fiber fill up the tummy by absorbing many times its weight in water so that a person feels satisfied after eating, but it lowers cholesterol by soaking up the fat in our bodies.
Here are a few ideas to get added fiber in our diets:
- Fiber One “Oats & Chocolate” bars – 9 grams of fiber per bar & tastes great (also comes in peanut butter and caramel flavors, but chocolate is my favorite)
- Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal – 13 grams of fiber per serving & tastes good (also comes in Raisin Bran Clusters)
- Fresh fruit salads (can be mixed with yogurt & topped with granola)
- Add fiber to recipes (example: Ranger Cookies with added fiber)
- Popcorn (great source of fiber)
- Salads & veggies
Father’s Day Gift Ideas
Father’s Day is nearly here! Still looking for a Father’s Day gift for that special person? Here are some gift ideas:
- Gift card to his favorite store along with a small gift of his favorite candy or nuts (put gift card and candy in a nice looking gift bag)
- Tickets to his favorite sporting event
- His favorite cologne
- Something that he would never buy for himself but would really like to have
You need to know what he likes and doesn’t like. For example, tactical gear is something my husband would not want. Choose a gift that suits his personality and taste!
“A Cowboy’s Wife” Has a Great New Look!
Lori, at A Cowboy’s Wife, has combined several of her blogs and has a great new look for her site. Would you like to know what Lori and I both have in common? We’re both Texas gals! Now I must admit that I don’t know much about ranching, but I enjoy reading about it and seeing the awesome pictures that Lori takes with her own camera. She is quite a photographer. If you’ve never been to her site, then I recommend checking it out for a lot of great information on blogging and other things and to get a little taste of Texas ranching life!
