Look what I received in the mail recently. What a nice surprise when I learned that I had won these cookbooks! Just want to say thanks again to Laura. And if you haven’t participated in “Menu Plan Monday,” drop by Organizing Junkie and check it out. Also, if you’re an organizing junkie too, you will love all her tips and ideas!
Workshops
Some people have workshops in their backyards or garages. One of our neighbors has a workshop in their garage. I don’t know if he has hydraulic power workholding or what types of machines he has, but I do know he works in it a lot and sometimes his son is out there with him. I have no idea what he makes in his workshop but he does seem to enjoy being out there. Maybe just puttering around in the garage is therapeutic for him and he doesn’t always have to be making something.
Dog Beds
We have several friends who have dogs. A couple of the dogs are getting up in years, and I wonder if they could use orthopedic dog beds. Our dog that we had for years and years just slept in a regular dog bed and did fine, but some dogs who have arthritis and other ailments might be more comfortable on a special bed.
Menu Plan Monday 3/11/13

Housing Markets
Have you been keeping up with how the housing market is doing in different areas of the country? I have not and honestly have no idea how oak island nc real estate is doing, for example. All I know is how the market is doing in our general area, and it seems to be doing good in the Metroplex area. How is it doing in your part of the country?
Spring is Here!
Now that spring is nearly here, it’s time to start thinking about fixing up the back yard for those warm days when it’s enjoyable to be outside. You can click here if you’re looking for an outside patio umbrella. We don’t have one, but my mother-in-law has a patio table with an umbrella. She absolutely loves to sit out on her side patio, drink coffee, and watch the birds. What she enjoys the most is to do that with family.
Famous Strawberries Romanoff Sauce from … La Madeleine’s
Strawberries Romanoff from La Madeleine’s is one of my favorites! It’s awesome!! I’ve seen a couple of different recipes for their sauce, so I thought I’d share them with you:
INGREDIENTS for Sauce #1:
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
INGREDIENTS for Sauce #2:
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
If you make either of these, let me know how you like them.

Hope you have a great week!

Crock Pot Meatloaf – Uses Turkey or Beef
We eat mostly chicken, fish, and turkey so I was glad to find a recipe that could use ground turkey. This is from a friend, and I trust it’s a good recipe and hope to make it soon, especially since it’s so easy.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 pounds lean ground turkey (or beef)
- 2/3 cup oatmeal
- 1 package onion soup mix
- 1/2 cup catsup
Mix all of the ingredients well and place in crock pot. Cook for 6 hours on low.
Menu Plan Monday 2/25/13
Since our son is getting married in June, I’ve been looking for a dress to wear to the wedding, one that would be good for an afternoon wedding. I finally found one that is exactly what I wanted. The mother-of-the-bride chose a blue dress with the length being a couple of inches below the knees. So, I needed to find one the same length and a different color. I decided on a black dress with a shimmery gray/silver cardigan. It has an attached printed waistband, the print containing black, white, and a shimmery silver (all colors in the wedding).
I already have a dressy black purse that I’ve used only once at another relative’s wedding, so all that’s left to look for are shoes and jewelry. (plus losing at least five pounds minimum)
We’ve been doing some planning for the rehearsal dinner, too. It was a quick and unanimous decision to have Mexican food, and we’re checking into places that do catering. Right now, Abuelo’s is at the top of the list. We’re thinking that Sopapilla Cheesecake would be good for one of the dessert options, but we’ll need several because we have 40 people on the list right now for the rehearsal dinner. We’ll see.
.It’s going to get colder this week, so soup sounds good. Here’s our menu for the week:
.
Monday: Genghis Grill (have a coupon buy one meal/ get one free)
Tuesday: Chicken Tortilla soup
……
Wednesday: Leftover soup
Thursday: Cheese Tortellini Soup and salad
Friday: Pizza and salad
Sunday Thoughts
Just having a lot of Bible knowledge or going to church every Sunday is not what being a Christian is about. It’s about being transformed into what God would have us become and about loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, & strength. It’s about loving others as well. It’s about having a servant spirit like Christ and being transformed more and more into being like Him every day of our lives. It’s about being transformed and changed because of the great love, mercy, and grace that God has showered on us through sending His one and only Son into this broken world… to save us!
Low-Fat Creamy Tomato Basil Soup
.We really like La Madeleine’s Tomato Basil Soup. There’s one problem, though, it’s absolutely loaded with fat! We found a compromise…a great tasting soup that’s low in fat with only 3 1/2 grams of fat per serving. Recently, I tried La Madeleine’s lower-fat version of their soup, but I like Progresso’s soup better. We like Progresso’s Creamy Tomato Basil Soup so much, in fact, that we buy several cans at a time.
* Note: I haven’t received anything from Progresso. This is strictly my opinion.
