Time for Spring Cleaning

Well, it’s that time of year for spring cleaning.  We’ve already started a little bit and try to use the best cleaners we can find.  Some people go all out and clean every thing they can think of.   I’m not into that, just the basic cleaning is enough for me.  I won’t be looking for the best colon cleansing out there, for example,  just household cleaners is on my list.

Lost Two Pounds

I’ve had a cold this past week that has developed into bronchitis.  One thing about having a cold is that sweets don’t taste as good to me.   Desserts just aren’t that appealing.  I don’t need a quick weight loss because I’ve lost one to two pounds according to the scales at the doctor’s office today.   As much as I dislike having a cold and especially bronchitis, I don’t mind being able to lose a couple of pounds effortlessly.

Rotisserie Chicken – Make the Most of It

Being able to pick up a delicious rotisserie chicken from the grocery store or Walmart is wonderful!  When you’ve had a hectic day and do not feel like cooking, it’s so easy to pick up one from the deli and then when you get home just open a bagged salad and cook one veggie.  That’s an easy “home-cooked” tasting meal.

My husband and I can usually have four meals off one rotisserie chicken.  This is what I did a couple of weeks ago:

  • Meal #1 – had rotisserie chicken with salad and a veggie
  • Meal #2 – used meat from the chicken to make chicken tacos using whole grain taco shells
  • Meal # 3 – liked the tacos so much we had them again the next night
  • Meal #4 – made chicken soup:  Took what was left of the chicken (the carcass), bones and all.  Placed in a large pot, covered with water, brought to a boil and simmered for 30 minutes-1 hour.  Let cool and removed chicken and bones from the pan.  Took the chicken off the bones.  Skimmed most of the fat off the remaining broth.   Then using the chicken stock as the soup base, added the chicken back in, plus chopped onion,  frozen veggies, and favorite spices.  Brought it to a boil and let it simmer for 30 more minutes.

A New Office

Do you ever sit and wonder, “What would it be like if…”   I’m wondering what it would be like to have a separate room for a new office and have some modern furniture in there. And while I’m dreaming, wouldn’t if be nice to have a brand new computer that never crashed or had to be restarted every day, sometimes several times a day.   I think that would be really nice!

Soft or Hard Water?

Have you noticed a difference in the taste of the water in different parts of the country?  Well, maybe most everyone drinks filtered or bottled water now, but I used to drink tap water and noticed a difference. I remember where my grandparents lived had soft water and it tasted so good.  They didn’t need a water softener for their water.  Soft or hard water does make a difference in the way water tastes.

Ortega Whole Grain Taco Shells

I was in the grocery store, noticed these taco shells, and was impressed with the higher fiber.  But would they taste good?  Yes, they tasted very good when I used them to make chicken tacos.   I used left-over rotisserie chicken which made for a quick meal.  All I had to do was heat some olive oil in the skillet with bite-size pieces of chicken and some fajita seasoning.  The taco shells took four minutes to heat in the oven, and then I filled them with chicken and our favorite toppings of cheese, lettuce, tomato, and avocado.  This was an easy meal!

Laptop or Desktop Computer?

So many people have laptops nowadays that I wonder what the actual numbers are of those who have laptops and those who have desktop computers.  Seems like through the past several years, I am seeing more and more laptops.  They are definitely convenient for traveling and moving around to different locations.  Which type of computer do you prefer…a laptop or a desktop computer?

Office Work

Once I had a temporary part-time job.  It lasted about a month and involved answering the phone, waiting on patients who came in, having them fill out paperwork, and calling to verify their insurance.  Sometimes I would use the credit card machine and print out their receipt on a little machine.  (I don’t know if it was a tm-t88iv or what kind of machine it was.)  Sometimes I would call in their credit card number.   Even though it didn’t last long, I enjoyed the work and enjoyed talking to the people in the waiting area.

Children’s Items Resale Event

Our daughter, Christi, loves to go to the children’s consignment event that takes place twice a year where she lives.  It’s a lot of work pricing every item of clothing and entering it in online.  But it’s necessary because when people purchase items at the sale, POSGuys make check-out quick and efficient. It’s worth all the work because she usually makes enough from what she sells to cover what she buys.  That’s a really nice incentive for doing all of this!  And their little boys end up with some cute, quality clothes that sometimes look like new.

Exercise Time

I have often wished we had a treadmill. It would be much easier to fit in exercise time.  Exercise could be done while in pajamas, watching TV, or reading a book.  Weather would have no effect so it wouldn’t matter if it was rainy, windy, snowy, icy, or whatever.   It would be easier to break exercise time down into five minutes here and ten minutes there if time were a factor.  But the truth is that we just don’t have room for a treadmill.  Maybe someday we will.
