I remember when we bought our house years ago. It was a ten year old house at the time, but it was new to us. We were excited to fix it up just like we wanted. Advantages of moving into an older home were that the grass and flower beds were already growing well and the blinds were already in the windows. Those were things we didn’t have to think about. There were other things to consider such as mortgage life insurance, homeowner’s insurance, and even flood insurance. But the most fun part was decorating and making it a home with our family pictures and mementos.

A Good Night’s Sleep

When I go to sleep, there are certain things I like to have. I want to have soft pillows that help to keep my neck in a position that is good for my back and shoulders. I like to sleep on our memory foam mattress that also has a memory foam topper to make it extra soft. And I like my down-filled comforter which is so comfortable and cozy! All of these things help me to sleep better. I certainly don’t like sleeping on a firm mattress, although some people do. Each person has to figure out what things help them to get a good night’s sleep.

Beautiful Glassware

I think beautiful glassware adds such a special touch to a special dinner. We are not formal at our house, however, and most of the time I’m in a hurry and set the table real fast. Once in a while, though, I might take a little more time and set the table a little nicer. But on special occasions such as holidays and birthdays, I always like to set a formal table so I get out the china and stemware. There’s something about adding stemware to the table setting that adds that special touch. Home Theaters

We watched an Extreme Home Makeover episode not too long ago where a family had a child with extreme health problems. The problems were so severe that she had to be home schooled and rarely got out of the house. Her brother was home schooled, too. The house built for them on the show was so cool because it had a small home theater in the basement where their family and a few friends could “go see a movie.” I’m not sure what kind of home theater seating they had, but it was wonderful they could go to a movie and feel a little more normal.

Musty Smelling Towels?

No one likes towels that smell musty. But sometimes people’s towels have a musty smell even after being washed. Here are some tips to keep towels smelling fresh from Steve Boorstein:

Use the Hot Water cycle.
Wash towels often because traces of dirt, etc, can help mildew spores to grow.
Don’t crowd towels in the washer because they need plenty of room to agitate.
Add a cleaning booster if a musty smell is really a problem.
Dry towels soon after washing them.
