I save the plastic liners from cereal boxes to reuse in several different ways. I use them to line the bottom of paper grocery bags which I use for garbage sacks under the kitchen sink. They are great to keep wet or damp items from soaking through to the bottom. Those items might be wet paper towels, wet tea bags, or some type of moisture that leaks to the bottom of the garbage sack. Another great use is to put chicken bones in them and then tie up the open end of the plastic with a twisty. That works great to keep the smell contained within the liner instead of stinking up the trash. If you think about it, the liners are designed to keep moisture out of cereal, so they can be used all sorts of ways to keep out moisture. Or they can be used in the reverse way to keep moisture inside. Maybe you have another use for them. If so, I’d be interested in hearing about it.

Tip for Cleaning up Broken Glass
If you have to clean up broken glass, carefully pick up the large pieces, place in a paper sack so they won’t tear a plastic garbage bag, and then place in the garbage. You can use a vacuum cleaner attachment to pick up the smaller pieces. If there are tiny pieces of glass that you can’t see very easily, then wet a cotton ball or Q-Tip to pick up the smallest pieces.
Plasma TV Lifts
We know several people that have huge plasma TVs. We still have the old kind, a 32 inch that we’re perfectly happy with. But I guess some day we will have to get a new TV if and when we can’t get reception on the old kind. I was looking at Import Advantage’s site, and they have a plasma tv lift that is really neat. The huge TV screen is concealed in a nice looking console cabinet when the TV is not in use, and then with the touch of a button, the TV raises up out of the cabinet and is high enough for easy viewing when the TV is being used. I like the idea of the TV only being seen when it’s being used.

Platform Beds
Now that Baby J has arrived, our daughter and son-in-law decided that their extra-high bed was too high with a baby around. So what they did was to store their bed frame and box springs in the garage and get a platform frame on which to put their mattress. That works out perfectly. They are saving their original bed frame and box springs to put in a guest bedroom when they have one in the future. Then all they’ll have to buy is the mattress for the guest bed. It you’re interested in a new bed, then you might check out platform beds .
Microwave Ovens from P.C. Richard & Son
I use my microwave oven every day. In fact, I use it several times a day. I use it to make tea, to cook, to heat up left-overs, and to defrost things. I’m actually defrosting frozen lasagna I made a couple of weeks ago as I type.

They have microwave ovens, all well as all kinds of appliances including designer appliances, electronics, and vacuums. They even have home office items and video games. House Cleaning Tips for the Holidays
Here are some great ideas about house cleaning during the holidays:
- Don’t stress about it! Put on some of your favorite music. Music speeds up cleaning and makes it more fun.
- Don’t let clutter get out of control! Spend 10 minutes a day putting things back where they go.
- Prioritize your rooms! Clean the room that is most used by guests first. (probably the living room) Then move on from there.
- Handle mail one time! As you look through your daily mail, either recycle it, put bills in their place, or put it in a basket for things that need your attention. Don’t waste time going through your mail two or three times.
- Kill germs! The last thing you want is to catch a cold or get sick during the holidays. Sanitize telephones, doorknobs, remote controls, light switches, water faucets, refrigerator and microwave door handles, flush handles on toilets, anything that more than one person touches.
Nice Garage Flooring from Car Guy Garage
Our garage floor is bare concrete stained with oil and I’m not sure what other kinds of stains. It really doesn’t look very good. I’ve been in some garages that have such nice floors. If the cars were backed out, the garage could be used for a ping pong table, craft area, or workshop. Now that would be a nice way to get more use out of the garage. I checked out garage flooring, and they have some great looking flooring for the garage. I like the way the interlock tiles look and the fact they have a watertight interlocking system and are easy to install.
Video: What to Do for a Kitchen Grease Fire
Never pour water on a grease fire! Let me repeat, never ever pour water on a grease fire! Do not throw flour or sugar on a grease fire either. Baking soda is OK, but it takes a huge amount of baking soda to eliminate a fire, and the vast majority of people will not have enough baking soda. So…follow these simple tips. Do not move the pan! You could catch your clothes on fire. If the pan has a lid, place the lid on the pan. If you don’t have a lid, wet a large towel completely with water, wring out excess water, then gently lay the wet towel over the pan. If it is a large grease fire, get everyone out of the house and call 911. Use a fire extinguisher if you have one. Be extremely careful of smoke. Smoke can overpower people before they know it and is extremely dangerous. If there is a lot of smoke, stay outside and let the professionals handle it.
Below is a video that shows what happens when water is poured on a grease fire. It also shows how the fire is put out by a wet towel.
