A Fun Vacation!

oceanfront-house-3-16-09This week is Spring Break, and a lot of people are traveling this time of year.   I was thinking how fun it would be to go with family and relatives to the Outer Banks to rent a large house big enough for all of us.  We could relax for a week or so and sit out on the beach and tour the area.  I wonder what Baby J (our 19 month old grandson) would think about the waves.  It would definitely be a fun vacation!

Vacation in Orlando, Florida

orlando-vacation-disney-3-5-09Over ten years ago, we went to Orlando, Florida, for two summer vacations in a row.  There was so much to do there that it took two summers to do everything we wanted.   For instance, we rented a car and drove to the Kennedy Space Center on the east coast of Florida one year.  That was so interesting!

For people who are planning Orlando vacations, research all the many things available before you plan your trip.

It’s That Time of Year

With Spring Break just around the corner, some people are already making travel plans to take advantage of the week off from school.   Some will go by car and some will fly to their favorite vacation spot.  Whether flying or going on a cruise, it might be good to get travel insurance quotes Travel Insurance Center has the best travel protection plans available.

“We Survived the Road to Hana!”

There’s a T-shirt available in Hawaii that has the saying on it, “I survived the road to Hana.”   If you’ve been on that road, then you know exactly what they mean.  It will be ten years this June since our family went to Hawaii, but I still remember a lot about it because it was such an awesome trip.  And I definitely remember the road to Hana.

2nd-sd-card-hawaiiWe took that road during the daytime to get to the “Seven Sacred Springs” which were beautifully located in a rain forest.  It was worth the trip on the narrow, winding-around-mountains-road to get to walk in the rain forest around the springs.  However, we had no idea how horrendous our return trip would be.

When we left the springs to head back to our motel on the other side of the island, it was nearly dark and starting to rain.  Winding around narrow, treacherous, mountain roads (so narrow that you had to honk to warn on-coming traffic as you rounded a curve because there was only room for one car on the curve!!!!!) on a dark, rainy night for miles and miles and miles was at the very least nerve-wracking.  We were never so glad to get to flat land and see the lights of the city.

So…if you ever go to Hawaii, Maui to be exact, beware of the “road to Hana!”  The Seven Sacred Pools and rainforest are worth the drive but be sure you travel the road during daylight hours!  And if you survive, be sure to get yourself a T-shirt.  🙂

Planning a Trip?

Wouldn’t it be nice to take a trip during this busy season?  Seems like there is just so much going on, and a lot of people are experiencing this hectic pace.  Some may be planning a trip soon and may be making airline reservations, hotel reservations, and arranging for travel insuranceThat would be nice, but I would settle for a day trip somewhere to just get away.

Traveling to Las Vegas

Our sister-in-law likes to travel to Las Vegas to visit friends, so she and my husband’s brother will visit there occasionally.  They don’t have a need for a vegas hotel because they can just stay with her friends. They say the mountains are pretty there and they enjoy the scenery, and they also enjoy just getting to be with friends and visit.

Traveling is Great With a GPS

We’ve been on several vacations throughout the past few years, and my husband would rely on our laptop GPS to navigate, especially when we would go downtown into the big cities.  It really came in handy when we were in downtown Chicago and also once when we were in downtown Denver looking for a certain restaurant.  It has come in handy and saved us from the frustration of getting lost countless times because my husband would plan our route ahead of time.  If you don’t have a GPS, then you check out Garmin GPS and the savings at Buy.com.

It’s So Cold in Here!

Cabin_cuddler
How many times have you been somewhere and thought or maybe even said, “It’s so cold in here!”   Maybe you wished you had a blanket because you felt like you were in a deep freezer. I know I’ve been in that situation many times.  I don’t understand why businesses, restaurants, and even churches keep their buildings so cold, but they do!  Well, I guess I do understand the fact that men wear suits and get hot, but the poor women who are in summer dresses, shorts and sleeveless tops, or even capri pants freeze in 65-70 degree temperatures.
I haven’t flown in a long time, but on all the many flights I’ve been on before, I would always ask for a blanket because it would get absolutely freezing in the cabin of the airplane.  I’ve heard that now most airlines don’t supply a travel blanket or a pillow, and people have to do without these unless they just happen to bring along their Cabin Cuddler.

If you’re not familiar with a Cabin Cuddler, let me explain:

  • It is a contour-cut blanket that covers your whole body.
  • It comes in a reversible tote bag that hangs easily on any standard luggage.
  • It also comes with an inflatable pillow that blows up easily.
  • It has a patented pocket for feet so they always stay warm.
  • It is hygenic. (Most airline pillows haven’t been cleaned in a very long time.)
  • It comes in two colors, black or cranberry red.

Another great thing about traveling with your Cabin Cuddler is that if your airline flight is delayed and you are stuck at the airport overnight, you have your own hygenic blanket and pillow.  You don’t have to try to stay warm by covering up with Ladies Home Journals or whatever magazines and newspapers they have.  I have to admit that I have covered my arms and legs with magazines, newspapers, even napkins in an effort not to freeze in various public places.  That’s when I need to have a Cabin Cuddler with me!

Luxury Vacations

If you could go anywhere and have your choice of luxury vacations, where would you go?   I have two favorite places, Colorado and Hawaii.  When I was a child, we vacationed in Colorado, and I have always loved going to the Rocky Mountains.  Nine years ago, we went to Hawaii and had a dream vacation.   So either of those two places would be my choice.

Exercise Equipment

A lot of people have exercise equipment so they can exercise in the convenience of their own home. They don’t have to worry about the weather, if it’s too hot or too cold, nor do they have to worry about stray dogs that might come up and try to take a bite out of them.

Workout Warehouse has an offer of free shipping on exercise equipment for those who pay in full.  Offer ends soon.

Trusted Tours & Attractions

Orlando is such a fun place to visit.   We went there two different summers with our family, and those vacations were some of our best summer vacations.  It’s obvious we enjoyed Orlando because we went two summers in a row.  There is never a lack of varied things to visit; however, there might not be enough time to do everything that you want to do.  That is why I suggest allowing plenty of time for a vacation there and the surrounding area.  There are so many things to do in Orlando. We visited Disney World, MGM Studios, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, and the Kennedy Space Center on the east coast as well as several beaches.

If you’re planning your next vacation and aren’t sure where you want to go, look at Trusted Tours online travel guides. You might be interested in going to New York and seeing the sights and visiting Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.   There are a lot of things to do in New York.
