Today was a hot day! I noticed my skin seemed drier today as a result, so I got out my heavy duty lotion and my skin just soaked it up. I didn’t need an eczema treatment, but just needed something to moisturize my thirsty skin. It felt much smoother and better after an application of a good moisturizing lotion, well actually it was a cream. I think that’s going to be needed on a daily basis for sure!

Eating More Sweets
Now that our son’s been home from college, I find I’m eating more sweets. I tend to fix sweets occasionally and make little treats here and there. I don’t think I need alli, but I need to watch it and make sure I don’t eat too much. I always allow myself treats and sweets in moderation anyway, but I need to make sure I don’t overdo it!
FREE Admission to Museums with Bank of America Card – First Weekends of Each Month
Free Ticket:
Check out “Museums on Us” and see if you’re close to one of the 100+ museums participating in this freebie. There are museums located all over the United States that have free admission for the primary cardholder on the first weekend of every month. Just click on your state and the museums will be listed. This works with Bank of America ATM, debit and credit cards.
Our son told us about this offer last year, but then he went off to college and things got busy with us here so we never utilized this freebie. Our daughter, Christi, reminded me of this offer (thanks again Christi!). Our son is home from his freshman year at college and so I located the museums we’re wanting to see. We’re planning to visit a museum this weekend for FREE. All three of us have B/0f/A cards and are the primary cardholder, so we all get in free of charge!
Skin Care
Now that it’s summertime, it’s important to take extra care of our skin. For those people who are using a treatment for eczema, being in the sun might actually make their eczema worse. For most people, being in the sun is good in moderation during the early morning or late afternoon, but too much sun or even thirty minutes of sun during the hottest part of the day can cause sunburn. Be sure to wear sunscreen and plan outside activities in order to prevent sunburn.
Friendly Friday: 6/4/10
Starting this week YOU can host the link list on your blog too! Just click “Get the code here…” at the bottom of the list. Hosting the list is a great way to get traffic to your blog and make Friendly Friday even more beneficial for everyone.
Thanks for joining the Friendly Friday celebration hosted by Christi at Frugal Novice, Xenia at Thanks, Mail Carrier and Charla at Healthy Home Blog! We invite you to join us every Friday to make more friends in blogville, get more blog followers and follow other great blogs out there.
To join in the Friendly Friday celebration, include your link in our list, follow the hostesses in the first 3 spots and then start blog hopping! Visit other blogs on the list and comment to give them some blog love. Then take a minute to follow them through Google Friend Connect – this is a good way to keep up with other blogs, but also lets us show support to each other!
When people comment on your blog and let you know they’re a part of Friendly Friday, return the favor and follow them back. This way everyone gets traffic and followers out of participating, and it’s a win-win situation. We would love for you to also grab our Friendly Friday button and post it on your blog and/or in a post – the more bloggers that find out about Friendly Friday and participate, the better!
Spotlight on Friendly Friday Followers!
We love your participation and want to show it! In addition to gaining followers, each week we’ll select three blogs at random and will feature links and a write-up for those blogs in the content of next week’s Friendly Friday post. There are so many seriously wonderful blogs out there, and this will be a great way to highlight some of those each week. Say hello to the lucky chosen 3 for this week (and feel free to stop by and give them a little extra love)…
Chelsea is the blogger behind Twee Poppets. Wondering what that name means? “Twee” means cute, and “Poppet” means sweet child. The theme of Twee Poppets is, in Chelsea’s words, “cute little items for cute little kids!” Each Tuesday she hosts a blog hop called Tuesday Tag Along, which is another great way to get to know other bloggers. Discover fun Etsy shops through her reviews and giveaways, too!
At One Savvy Mom! Sarah, a mom of two toddlers, writes reviews for products and events. She always has a lot of fun giveaways going on. From jewelry to toys to kids’ gear, get the skinny on all sorts of new items when you visit Sarah’s blog. She’s also planning to run the NYC Marathon in November to help raise funds for Standing Tall, a unique program for children with disabilities.
Shannon at Coupon Mommy of 3 is a co-host of “Facebook Like You Back,” a meme that takes place each Wednesday to help bloggers get followers on their Facebook pages. She writes about couponing, freebies, and match-ups along with hosting giveaways and writing product reviews. Shannon’s a mom to three sweet girls and is most recently learning about the world of cloth diapering!
Thank You, Chrissy!
I won the giveaway for a bag of 3 Sugar-Free Ring Pops from Chrissy at Happy Mom of 5.
I commented how the ring pops brought back memories of when our kids were little and liked them. Christi and our son both thought they were cool!
Thank You, Chick-Fil-A
Thanks to Chick-Fil-A, we enjoyed free spicy chicken sandwiches for dinner this evening. My husband, our son, and I all went to their website a few days ago to make our reservation for the free sandwiches. We were all impressed with this new addition to their menu which is to be released to the public on June 7, 2010. The chicken was very tender, and the breading was minimum in relation to the thick chicken breast fillet. If you like spice, I think you’ll like this sandwich! (And, of course, we had to have their famous waffle fries, too!)
*Note – If you read the comments below, you’ll see how two different Chick-Fil-A’s gave more than free sandwiches this week.
Friendly Friday Starts One Hour Earlier Tonight
We (Christi, Xenia, and myself) decided to start Friendly Friday one hour earlier which will be at 10:00 pm CST tonight. This will make it easier for people who want to add their name before going to bed. Come join the fun and meet new bloggers and make new friends. If interested, check back here later this evening for the posting of Friendly Friday.
For those of you who do not have blogs, you can join in, too, by going to visit the blogs listed. I promise you that you will find great variety and some very interesting, talented bloggers. And keep checking back because some bloggers are planning to add their blogs to the list tonight, some tomorrow, and some may even add their blog on Saturday morning.
Faux Wood Blinds
If we could afford it, I would like to have faux wood blinds on our living room windows. We have two really huge windows side-by-side which are great because we can look out into our backyard. We have crepe myrtle trees, cannas, and some potted plants on the deck, and it’s really pretty when everything is blooming. But we can’t afford new blinds now, even with a 40% off sale. Hmmm…maybe someday!
Summertime “Dieting”
Although it’s not officially summer, summertime is here. This is the time of year when many people are thinking about dieting and all the different diets out there such as the hcg diet. I don’t actually diet anymore, I just eat healthy the majority of the time. I try to eliminate unhealthy fats and use olive oil as much as possible. Fiber is a must, and there are great breads, granola bars, and cereals these days with a good amount of fiber. Popcorn is great too. Add in lean meat and lots of fresh veggies and in-season fruits for a nice healthy “diet.”
