5 Pounds in 5 Weeks, Week 1

Yeah!!! I lost one pound this past week, so that’s a start to losing “5 Pounds in 5 Weeks.” This is what I did:

  • ate smaller portions and didn’t get second helpings
  • drank lots of tea (regular and green tea) sweetened with Stevia (natural herb with 0 calories) and lots of water
  • ate low-fat although we did eat at Chick Fil-A one day. Woops!
  • ate three smaller meals and two healthy snacks with protein every day which works best for me (I ate nuts every day – good protein snack)
  • chose healthy carbs and tried to limit processed foods, which are usually high in empty carbs, to a bare minimum. I must admit I did make cookies, but I limited myself to three cookies out of the whole batch instead of the usual half a cookie sheet’s worth. (I love cookies fresh out of the oven!)
  • limited my candy to one small piece of chocolate on two different days (sigh!)
  • stretched daily and went for a long walk on three days

Tim Nolan’s Basketball Shots

Tim Nolan is an amazing guy with a basketball or even very small balls. Click here to see a Snotr video and watch his unbelievable skill. I don’t know what his percentage of accuracy is, but just the fact that he can do what he does at all is really something. If you have sports enthusiasts at your house, then you might want to share this video with them.

PS I just read that he’s a professional juggler and basketball entertainer. It’s still amazing anyway!

5 Pounds in 5 Weeks

I want to lose five pounds, but I want to do it slowly so that I can develop more healthy habits. One pound a week is good for me. I plan to try to reduce sugar (Easter candy didn’t help any…and we still have some left!), eat healthy meals with more raw fresh foods and fiber, drink more tea, eat protein with every meal or snack, and walk more. Some people like to use pills such as eca stack, but each person has to figure out what works best for them.

Orovo Diet Pill & Supplement

Orovo is a diet pill that contains natural ingredients and is a supplement of super healthy ingredients such as wheatgrass and green tea that not only help with weight loss but are also good for the skin and energizing the mind. They use high quality ingredients which is a big factor with me. I have not tried these pills, but I am impressed with these ingredients:

  • Acai
  • Alfalfa Sprout
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • Barley
  • Buckwheat
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • DMAE
  • Flaxseed
  • Garlic
  • Green Tea
  • Lactobacillus Acidophilus
  • Soy
  • Wheatgrass

Orovo’s website states that their ingredients, a blend of the “Top 10 SuperFoods” and anti-oxidants, have been clinically proven.

92 Year Old Lady Held Up in Parking Lot

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes…and ages. A certain 92 year old lady is a hero in my opinion. She got held up in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Tennessee, but the story has a happy ending. The Today Show shared her story on national television, and she was even invited to be on the Today Show in person, but declined. Click here to see the news story on YouTube.

Contest at A Cowboy’s Wife

Lori over at A Cowboy’s Wife is having a contest. The contest is a $25 Giveaway to Sudz N Bubbles where “soap is a form of art.”  It’s interesting to read the story about how this mom, Cindy, started making this soap because her son had eczema.

The contest ends tomorrow on Friday, March 21. Sorry this is such late notice! I meant to post this days ago and completely forgot. But there’s still time! 🙂

Are They Happy?

When I look at some of the movie stars and people in the entertainment business, I wonder if they’re truly happy. Some of them seem to have so many problems in their lives. Hopefully, they’ll get the help they need through drug rehab or whatever it is they need. I think that just goes to show that having money and/or fame doesn’t mean that a person will be happy. To me, being truly loved is what really makes me happy, and then also being able to give love in return.

Mega Brands Recalls 2.4 Million Toys

Mega Brands has recalled around 2.4 million Chinese-made toys.  They are recalling 1.1 million Magtastik and Magnetix Jr. preschool toys and around 1.3 million MagnaMan magnetic action figures. Some of the stores where the toys were sold are Wal-Mart, Target, Toys “R” Us and Kmart between January 2005 and December 2007.  Tiny magnets could fall out and be swallowed by children and possibly kill them.  For details on how to return the toys and receive a free replacement, call 800-779-7122. Information is also available at http://www.megabrands.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.

Bloggers…Check out New Site

Check out this new site called Zero and Up where you can “learn to grow your earnings.” It has great information for seasoned bloggers as well as for those just starting out. I’ve learned helpful tips and also learned about some things I didn’t really fully understand. For example, on his most recent post, I learned about using Entrecard. I signed up for it today and have already started using it.  The site is really doing great for being less than a month old.  The writer has a good sense of humor which can be noted in the post, “Fail-proof plan to make your blog comment free!”  And by the way, there are some good comments on that post so check those out, too.  🙂

Small Business Phone Systems

We were in business years ago and had our own store. There are a lot of things to purchase for a business. If any of you are self-employed and have your own business, then you know what I mean. If you are looking for small business phone systems, then you might want to check out Neobits. Their customers say they are fast, courteous, and professional.
