Give a Domain for a Gift (Only $7.49)

I wrote a few days ago about how I gave my husband a gift of a domain so that he could start his own blog.  He really liked that!  And I recently renewed that for him for another year.

Do you have someone, maybe a family member, who you have no idea what to give them?  Maybe they would love to have their own domain.  Here’s a really good deal from Godaddy.com for $7.49.  Check them out:

CVS Surprise in the Mail

Today, I got a surprise from CVS in the mail.  At first, I thought it was just a thick packet of advertisements or maybe even coupons.  Since I like to shop at CVS from time to time and get their good deals on certain things, I opened the envelope to see what was inside.  Much to my surprise, a folded-up shopping bag was inside.  In their efforts to support the “Green” cause, they mailed us a reuseable shopping bag that even has a tiny little slot on the outside in which they thoughtfully put a copy of our current CVS card.  I don’t have to hunt for my CVS card now…they can just scan it through the clear pocket on the outside of my bag.  There’s even a pocket to hold coupons.  How cool is that!!

Layaway is Making a Comeback!

When I was a child growing up, layaway was very common.  If people didn’t have the money up front, that’s how people bought their items they wanted to purchase.  And that was really a very sound way to budget for gifts and other needs.  Instead of getting into debt, the payments were made on a timely schedule and then the item was taken home when the final payment was made.

Now, Sears is once again offering Sears Layaway to make it convenient for their customers.  This is a great way to save money and not have to pay any interest.  All that is needed is either a $15 down payment or 20% down, whichever is greater.   The layaway offer doesn’t apply to certain items such as home electronics or appliances, but it does apply to many things.

I can imagine putting some clothing items on layaway for our son and Baby J and even possibly our newest grandbaby who is due in April of next year.  (I have fun shopping for baby clothes for our grandbaby who is now fifteen months old.)

I can also imagine looking in the kitchen section for our daughter.  She enjoys cooking and using things in the kitchen that make the job easier or some dish for serving a special recipe.  My husband and son-in-law would enjoy some type of tool.  I know my husband has many Sears tools in his big, red tool chest in the garage.  And our son-in-law has a tool chest, too. There are many things to choose from to make a wish come true!

Four Foods On Friday 55 – Thanksgiving Theme

Val from Fun, Crafts and Recipes has a Thanksgiving Theme this week:

#1. Stuffing. Boxed or from scratch?

My favorite stuffing was my mother’s made-from-scratch dressing.  My family likes Stove Top a lot, so that’s what I usually fix.
#2. If you were served the perfect Thanksgiving dinner what would it be?

Turkey, my mother’s dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, homemade mashed potatoes, Michelle’s Holiday Sweet Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, deviled eggs, celery sticks, green & black olives, fresh fruit salad, my grandmother’s homemade rolls, & pumpkin pie with real whipped cream on top.  And iced tea to drink.  (I’m ready to eat!)

#3. What’s your favorite Thanksgiving leftover?

All of the leftovers!  🙂

#4. Share a recipe using turkey.

Here’s a recipe I want to try:  Campbell’s Country Turkey Casserole

Campbell’s Country Turkey Casserole – Great for Leftover Turkey

This is a great way to put leftover turkey to great use!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 can Campbell’s Cream of Celery Soup (I use 98% Fat Free)
  • 1 can Campbell’s Cream of Potato Soup
  • 1 cup milk (I use 1 %)
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme, crushed
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups cooked vegetables (I would use carrots, peas or green beans, etc.)
  • 2 cups turkey (or chicken if you don’t have turkey)
  • 4 cups prepared seasoned stuffing

Mix soups, milk, thyme, pepper, vegetables and turkey in 3-quart casserole dish.  Top with stuffing.

Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until hot.

Godaddy.com

Godaddy.com is the domain name registrar that I use with Healthy Home Blog.   I have been pleased with their service, and their service is the reason they are the world’s leading domain name registrar and largest web host.  They offer customer service 24-7 and also offer a wide array of products, so they have been able to set up and maintain 30 million domain names.

Shortcut: Marshmallow Cupcake Frosting

Easy Marshmallow Frosting!  Sometimes things get so crazy and hectic that we need something quick and easy in the kitchen that won’t take much time.  Especially with the holidays coming up, many will be on a time crunch.  Here’s an idea for frosting cupcakes that takes only a minute:

  • A minute before taking cupcakes out of the oven, put a large marshmallow on top of each cupcake.
  • Leave in oven one minute.  Marshmallows will melt into delicious frosting!

Buying a Car

I know someone who bought a car (new to them but actually a used car) a few months ago.  There were so many things to see about after purchasing the vehicle such as getting the title transfer, arranging for auto insurance, making sure the inspection sticker was up to date, and also checking things out to make sure everything worked correctly.   When someone is budgeting for buying a car, they need to take into account all of the expenses involved after purchasing the vehicle.

“How to Feed Your Family for Less”

Pat, my friend over at Garden of Praise, has some great ideas on How to Feed Your Family for Less.  She has ideas on how to save money as well as recipes.  With the high cost of gasoline the past few months eating away at savings and now Christmas just around the corner, a lot of people are on a tight budget.  Every little bit we can save helps!

Why is it So Fun to Look at Baby Clothes?

Now that our daughter and s-i-l are expecting their second baby next April, I find myself noticing baby clothes even more.  They are just so cute, especially the ones for the little babies.  I was the same way with Baby J when they were expecting him and still am to a certain degree with his clothes.  But now I’m noticing the little, bitty clothes again.   So fun! 🙂

Operator Tactical Pants

I was not sure what tactical pants were, and I wanted to find out.  Any wife or mother of someone in law enforcement or the military knows what these type of pants are.  Did that give you a big clue if you didn’t know either?

If you look online, Operator Tactical Pants has a great price on these pants, and their NEW ones are loaded with features and lots of pockets.  They cut out the middle man and are able to offer these at a low price. By the way, they sold over 3,000 pairs in 15 days!

So, if you didn’t know what tactical pants were either, now we know!
