Great Savings on Pure Pearls

Have you ever wanted pearls for a wedding or some special occasion? I remember when I graduated from high school, my aunt and uncle wanted to give me something with pearls as a special gift. They gave me a beautiful pearl bracelet which I wore only on special occasions, and I still treasure it to this day.  A lot of times, a pearl necklace is the perfect gift for an anniversary, birthday, or Christmas gift.  And it always looks beautiful with a wedding dress.  If you are looking to buy pearls, Pure Pearls can help you with your selection as you choose from one of the largest selections of pearls online with a savings of up to 85% below retail.   You get a FREE Appraisal from a GIA Graduate to assure you of the best quality in your pearls.  Pure Pearls have been featured in Time Magazine and on the Fine Living Channel and several others.  Check out their site online, and they will help you find the perfect pearls for you.

Fun Fall Festival Tonight :)

Every year we have a Fall Festival in the fellowship area where we attend church.  It’s free and open to the community, and we usually always have a big attendance.  There are all sorts of fun games like you would see for little kids at school carnivals plus we have a “cupcake walk” and a hayride outside.  There’s free food which usually includes hot dogs, cheese nachos, frito-chili pie, lemonade, etc.  And, of course, there’s tons of candy.  Last year my family put up a little area surrounded by black trash bags so it would be dark inside, and then we had all kinds of Halloween lights and a little black light inside.  I think the game inside was a beanbag toss into a plastic pumpkin.  The kids loved it!  This year we’re doing tic-tac-toe beanbag.  It’s always so much fun to see how the kids (and adults) dress up.  And the great thing about this festival is that it’s safe and families don’t have to worry about not having the money for their kids to attend since it’s free.  Hope everyone has a safe Halloween night!

Money & Enzymes…Do You Spend Them Fast OR Do You Try to Use Them Wisely

You may be asking what in the world do money and enzymes have in common. Let me see if I can explain. When you have a certain amount of money, it’s easy to understand that the faster you spend it, the sooner you will run out. It’s the same way with enzymes. The late Dr. Edward Howell said, “It seems that we inherit a certain enzyme potential at birth.” Whatever we get, that’s it. So it’s like spending money, and the faster you use up your enzymes, the sooner you run out. So why are enzymes so important? Enzymes are needed for every chemical reaction that occurs in your body. Without enzymes, vitamins and minerals and hormones can not work … at all. That’s how crucial enzymes are for your body.

Some of you may be wondering exactly who was this Dr. Howell. Well, he was a doctor from Illinois who was the first researcher to discover how very important enzymes from raw foods are to human health and nutrition. In fact, in 1946 he published his first book about enzymes and kept researching after that.

Travel to See Beautiful Fall Foliage or Sun on the Beach

I would love to spend the day driving through Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and other places in the area to see all the absolutely gorgeous colors in nature this time of year.  Now would be the time for someone to take that much needed vacation and also enjoy the beautiful colors of fall, too.  A Cape Cod vacation rental would be a great place to stay while visiting there. They are the premier online source for vacation rental property listings in that area and also for the entire state of Florida where snow birds enjoy the warm weather and Disney World.  Not only do people come to their site first to rent a cottage, condo, villa, or beach house, but they also list vacation rental properties with them as well.   So check out their site and see what all they have to offer.

Study Released on Food Poisoning in U.S. 76,000,000 Suffer Annually / 5,000 Die

The New York Times released a study today from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta that states that 76 million Americans suffer from food poisoning every year. I think seeing the actual number helps for emphasis: that’s 76,000,000 people. And this is really unbelievable… 5,000 people die every year from food poisoning. How could this happen here in our country where we have the safest food supplies in the world? This just goes to show that we need to be extra careful about food poisoning and look for ways we can prevent it.

A Unique Way to Display Your Favorite Photo

Do you have a favorite photo that you just absolutely love? Maybe a picture of your baby, your kids, your family, a pet that is just like a family member, or a group of friends that you’re really close to? Have you ever thought of Photo Throws where you could see the picture every day? I’m not talking about a little frame that is the typical way to display a picture, but one that is unique and can’t be overlooked like a picture frame.  You could have the photo printed on a duvet cover for your bed to be the centerpiece of the room , or on a photo pillow, or on a photo pillowcase. If you wanted something really unique, you could have your favorite picture on a shower curtain. Fotobed.com is the only site that offers a customized shower curtain photo. The site is easy to use, and not only can you have a 100% customized photo, but you can have customized text as well. I think I like the idea of the photo pillows. What a nice accent for a bed or a sofa.

Teaching Preschool Kids to Sort Laundry

I went to a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting with our daughter and “Baby J” when I was out visiting recently. It was really fun and educational as well. The speaker talked about a good way to teach children as young as two years old to sort their own laundry. What she does is to have two laundry baskets. She has a white basket for white laundry and a colored basket for colored laundry. Children should know colors by then and with a little training, they might think it’s a fun game. What a neat idea!

What a Cool Place to Visit: St. Augustine, the Nation’s Oldest City

St. Augustine, Florida, would be such a cool place to visit! Having been a school teacher, I love to visit places with my family that are not only fun but have educational learning experiences as well, and this city in Florida would be one of those places. Not only is St. Augustine the nation’s oldest city, but it also has the nation’s oldest street there. Just imagine all the rich history that would make the visit something the family would always remember. When someone visits historical places, it’s like a live history lesson that is actually experienced. There are all sorts of things to see and touch from the past.

Being the nation’s oldest city makes it no surprise that there are numerous antique shops to visit. I must tell you that years ago when my husband and I were first married, my mother-in-law took me on almost weekly shopping excursions in the area. We had some of our best shopping trips to antique stores, and that’s when I developed my interest in antiques. Well, St. Augustine would be an antique lover’s paradise. In fact, on October 27 and November 24, Uptown Saturday Night takes place from 5pm to 9pm. Antique stores, galleries, and unique shops remain open, and there’s live street music and refreshments. What fun!

Events in St. Augustine vary from antique shopping, workshops about antique related topics, book signings, train tours, interesting historical places, fun places for kids such as Ripley’s Museum, as well as many other events. There should be something of interest for everyone in the family!

Fiber One Granola Bars are Actually Good

When I was out visiting our daughter and family recently, she gave me one of these new granola bars she’s been eating recently, a Fiber One bar. They have 9 … let me repeat…9 grams of fiber in them. I thought, “Hmmm, I’ll try one just to see what they’re like,” and I was expecting something with a little bit of a cardboard taste. I was really surprised at how great it tasted. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot with that much fiber, but it was really good. I buy them all the time now to have for our son to grab for a quick, fiber-filled breakfast on his way out the door. I like them for an afternoon snack because they’re satisfying with all that fiber in them and I don’t get hungry for a while. And they have CHOCOLATE in them! 🙂 They also have peanut butter bars.

🙂 So…thanks to my daughter for sharing with me!

Is Remortgaging an Option?

I feel sorry for people who have variable rate mortgages. Interest rates are rising which may make it hard for some of them to make their house payment. And then I know a lot of people qualify for more of a home loan than they can truly afford. They might get the house of their dreams, only to find that making the house payment becomes very difficult if their situation changes or mortgage rates go up. There are people who can’t pay their mortgages, and they risk losing their homes due to foreclosure. I really think banks should rethink the amount for which they allow people to qualify. They would truly be helping people if they made the requirements for a loan more stringent. So what can people do who are caught in a bind? If the have poor credit, they could consider poor credit remortgage. For those who want protection for the future, they might consider mortgage protection.

Update on our Dog and Her Allergies

Well, I was wrong.  It was not the flaxseed that caused our dog to smell bad every time she went potty.  Excuse the explanation, but turns out she needed to have her anal glands expressed.  She smells so much better now.  The only thing is that her allergies are still very bad, and the Benadryl and baths with dog oatmeal shampoo seem to help very little.  I’ve been reading online and I think she really does need omega-3 fatty acids…so back to the ground flaxseed.  I’m going to put that on her dog food every day and see how that helps.  Supposedly, it doesn’t help immediately but takes a little time to stop the itching.  So we’ll just have to wait and see.  Until then, she’ll still be a “conehead doggie.”  I’m thankful for doggie cones or otherwise she would have infected sores all over her body from chewing on herself.  I’ll let you know how the flaxseed works.
