Prenatal Vitamins

Two of my coworkers are expecting babies.  That brings back memories of when I was expecting each of our children and also when our daughter was expecting each of our grandsons.  I remember starting the prenatal vitamins with each pregnancy.  Nearly all women who are pregnant these days take some type of prenatal vitamin, whether it’s prenate dha or some other type, and taking vitamins during pregnancy has resulted in healthier pregnancies overall.

Resolutions

Now that the holidays are over, I have five pounds to lose.  That’s one of my traditional unspoken New Year’s resolutions.  I thought I wasn’t going to gain but just a couple of pounds, but after Christmas week was over then it turned into five.  One thing I don’t have to deal with is adult acne.  That’s good!   I’ll just concentrate on eating healthier, cutting back on what I eat, and trying to work in at least a couple of walks a week.

Vaporizers

During the winter, the air in the house gets so dry on cold days. We need the heat to stay warm, but it sure does take the moisture out of the air. We run a vaporizer in our bedroom nonstop during those times to put humidity back into the air.  Some people might use a Volcano Vaporizer to put not only moisture in the air but also essential oils.  These oils are released through hot air vaporization through patented technology.

Vapir Vaporizers have retro designs available to add style to the herbal aromatherapy experience.  The Extreme Vaporizer has a remote control which offers convenience as well.   We use a Vicks Vaporizer to keep our bedroom air from getting too dry while we sleep, and it works well to keep the humidity in the room.  When the temperature gets down into the twenties for a period of time, I usually will run two vaporizers, one in our bedroom and one in the living area.  They really do make a difference in the humidity level and eliminate static electricity in the air.

Very Special Rings

Valentine’s Day is just less than one month away.  I wonder how many will be getting promise rings or maybe even engagement rings?  I remember very clearly when my husband gave me my engagement ring.  A few days after he proposed, we went looking at rings and picked out the style we liked.  The jeweler checked the size of my ring finger and the ring was ordered.  The surprise was that I didn’t know when the ring was going to be ready.  Even though I knew I was getting an engagement ring, I remember how special it was when my husband surprised me with the ring box and then put the ring on my finger.

We still have our wedding rings although my husband wears a newer, nicer band that I got him years ago.  I still wear my original engagement and wedding rings plus an anniversary ring that my husband bought me around the time I got him a new band.  All of these rings are very special to us because they symbolize the unending love between us!

Marriage Help

Marriage takes a lot of work…but it’s worth it!  Think back to the days of dating.  It took work to get ready for dates.  We made sure our hair and make-up looked nice.  We paid attention to how we looked.  That’s important in marriage, too, no matter how long a couple has been married.  Remember how we talked and talked and got to know each other?  We wanted to find out about each other and communication was important.  Communication is extremely important in marriage!  If there’s a problem in this area, there are ways to work on it.  Marriage counseling has helped countless couples to overcome barriers and learn to communicate more effectively.  Nearly every marriage has some degree of problems, but some marriages have more marriage problems than others and it takes an active approach to solve the problems.

Marriage is a commitment to love someone no matter what happens in life.  If your marriage is in trouble, get help!  There are people who can give you advice on how to save a marriage.  It’s definitely worth it!

Menu Plan Monday 1/17/11

Our son left for college yesterday, and I must admit I cried when I hugged him and said goodbye.  I was talking to a friend today, and she said that she cried yesterday, too, when they told their son goodbye.  Oh the joys of motherhood!  It’s because we love and miss them that we cry!

So, with that said, here’s our menu for the week.  I mentioned last week that it would be different, but notice it doesn’t have rotisserie chicken…yet.  Are you surprised?  I am!

Monday:  Homemade Turkey & Vegetable Soup

Tuesday:  Leftover soup

Wednesday:  Lemon & Herb Chicken with whole grain pasta (Chicken Helper)

Thursday:  Leftover chicken and pasta

Friday:  DiGiorno Pizza (I’d like to try the thin, crispy crust)

New Homes in Minneapolis/St. Paul Area

Even though I’m a Texas girl and was born and raised in Texas, my parents were married in Minnesota.  I’ve never been to that state but I wonder what it’s like.  What would it be like to live there?  What are their homes like?  I’ve seen ads around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for new homes.  Minnetrista New Homes are 40 miles west of Minneapolis which sounds like a nice distance, close enough to drive into the big city for shopping or a special event.  Eagan New Homes are only 15 miles south of the metropolitan area which is just on the outskirts of the twin cities.  Shakopee New Homes are close by, too.

Although we’re not planning to move to Minnesota, it would be fun to visit the area and see what it’s like.  It would be fun to check out the new homes and compare them to homes in Texas.

Solar Power

Wow!  It has been so cold this past week here in Texas!  I wore layers of clothing plus a light coat in my classroom every day.  I kept a thermometer on my desk, which is close to the windows, and it averaged around 67-68 degrees most of the day.  No wonder I was cold!  We keep it warmer than that at home, or at least when I’m home.  If my husband is the only one home then he keeps it at 65 during the day.  We keep it at 65 every night.  Even though we’ve been trying to cut costs, I’m wondering how high our electricity bill is going to be.  That makes me think about checking out a Home Solar Power System.

I’m not familiar with a solar lease, but it would be worth checking into if it’s going to save us on our electricity.  I’ve read that solar financing is available as well, so that’s something to research.  It would be nice to be able to save on utilities!

Moving Long Distance

Do you have any friends or family who are Moving Overseas?  In the past, we’ve had several friends who have moved overseas, one family moved to Germany and some other friends moved to Japan.  I can’t imagine moving that far away!  There is so much involved in moving anyway, and moving that distance seems like it would be even more involved.

Our friends probably chose from some Long Distance Moving Companies to move all of their things.  How would you pack delicate items and things you wouldn’t want to lose?  China and crystal would have to be carefully packed as well as any sentimental items.  Both families had kids, so there were all the things you need for kids that had to be packed.  Packing would have to be done in an organized manner in order to find necessary things once everything was unpacked in the new location.  I would definitely want movers who were experts in the field!

Office Equipment

If you have a job requiring the use of a printer, whether it’s at a home office or at work, having a dependable printer is very important.   I use mine at work nearly every day and depend on it to make the copies I need.  Some of my co-workers have been having problems with their printers, and it’s very frustrating for them when they need things printed out.   In a couple of cases, two co-workers simply need printer ink but have to wait for a purchase order which means they can’t do their printing for a while.

One thing we don’t have at work are scanners.  That would be neat to be able to scan copies of handwritten items or pictures.  However, if I really need to do that then I can just bring it home and scan it.   Scanners are a very handy piece of office equipment to have plus a dependable printer!

Ready for the Week!

There is so much to do this week at work!  I’m glad I don’t need to go buy projector bulbs for any of our electronics at home or do any major shopping.  Groceries are stocked for the week except for orange juice and milk.  That’s something my husband will pick up tomorrow sometime, whenever it works into his schedule.  I’ve done my laundry  so I’m ready for this week!
