Kohler Sinks

If we were going to redo our kitchen or bathrooms, I would want to check out Kohler sinks. Kohler is definitely a leader in bathroom and kitchen design. I like the newer faucets they have as well. When I go into a room that has a trendy style faucet, I always notice it. They look sharp! Kohler has contemporary, modern, traditional, transitional, and Victorian selections that make a difference when building, remodeling, or updating a house.

Wedding Shower Idea: Mini-Dessert Cups

I saw a cute recipe for mini-dessert cups that would be perfect to serve at a wedding shower. It won’t be long until spring gets here and then there will be wedding showers for all the spring and summer weddings.

Have you noticed that a lot of weddings seem to happen within a year or two after your child’s wedding? We had ten wedding showers one year! I was a hostess at every one of those showers, and we were always looking for ways to make each shower unique. If you happen to be planning a shower, check out these cute dessert cups and check back here in the spring for more shower ideas.

Easy-to-Design Business Cards

business-card-post.jpg

Above you see my business card that I actually designed. It was fun to create and choose my own logo, font, colors, and design to match my site. It was quick and easy, too. First, I chose the image I wanted to create. Then I chose the logo design from a wide selection of logos. I simply typed in the name and words I wanted on my card and arranged things where I wanted them. There was so much flexibility in the process. I changed my mind several times until I got it just the way I wanted it and ended up with a quality design that suited me.

Alexa Rank & Blogs

Anyone involved in blogging is probably interested to see what their Alexa Rank is for their blog. The rank usually updates weekly, and I’m always curious to see my rank every week.

I feel that I have neglected my site a little since Christmas. There are so many ideas I have in mind for my blog, but other things keep coming up that I have to do and they distract me. Hopefully, things will settle down and I can implement all my ideas soon. I have just started adding pictures and hope to keep including pictures in some of my posts on a regular basis.

Pictures of my Microwave Bacon Cooker

Here is a picture of my new microwave bacon cooker that I wrote about last week. It really is the best way to cook bacon in the microwave that I have found.

After cooking in the microwave, the pieces of bacon are ready to eat as shown in the second picture.

Now here’s the really neat thing…all the grease collected in the bottom of the cooker. I cooked three batches of bacon, six pieces in each batch. Each time I removed the cooked bacon, I poured the grease into a Pyrex cup. The last picture shows how much grease I collected after cooking 18 pieces of bacon.

I was surprised at how much grease cooked out of the bacon. I was so used to using paper towels when I cooked it, that I forgot how much grease is actually in bacon.

If you’re planning on getting one of these, I would recommend getting two if you cook a lot of bacon. That way you can be filling one with bacon while one is cooking.

Please Pass the Grey Poupon

I’ve been asked to serve Grey Poupon Mustard to my family and give an honest review. We tried the Hearty Spicy Brown which has horseradish in it, and also the Harvest Coarse Ground. I thought they were both delicious on sandwiches! The spice in the mustard reminded me of a gourmet sandwich that I ordered when we were eating out, and I really liked that sandwich. My husband prefered the Hearty Spicy Brown Mustard, which didn’t surprise me at all because he really likes horseradish. Our son was skeptical at first. He likes mustard but wasn’t too sure about these. After tasting both of them, he said he really likes the Spicy Brown Mustard…just like his dad, although he didn’t know which one his dad chose. Neither one cared for the Harvest Coarse Ground because of the coarse granules in it.

I know our son-in-law, who likes spicy things, would like both of them without even asking him. If you like something with a little bit of spice, the Grey Poupon Mustard really does make a sandwich taste gourmet.

Camisoles

The Bargain Queen has another post about a good bargain. It’s for a purple Isaac Mizrahi camisole for $11.49 on clearance. Color coordinated camisoles are great to wear under button-up shirts. Right now, the colors of camisoles I have are beige, black, and pink, and I’m looking for one more camisole to match specifically with a certain shirt I like to wear.

My New Microwave Bacon Cooker

I have a new microwave bacon cooker that is so cool. It’s a new invention that cooks the bacon in an enclosed pitcher-like container. In fact, it’s the only totally enclosed microwave bacon cooker on the market. The neat thing about it is that I don’t have to use any paper plates or paper towels to cook the bacon. I used to have to use so many every time because I didn’t want any of the grease to be left on the bacon. Well, now with my new bacon cooker, all I have to do is hang the bacon on a vertical rack inside the container and cook in the microwave. The bacon cooks evenly and just the way we like it with all the grease collected nicely down in the bottom of the container away from the bacon. When I finish cooking the bacon, I simply put the three pieces of the container in the dishwasher for an easy clean-up. The only problem is that the bacon is so delicious that it is almost completely eaten up by family members, including myself, before I finish cooking the rest of the breakfast.

Make sure you get pork bacon. I made the mistake of getting turkey bacon the first time I tried it which didn’t work well. Somehow I overlooked that part on the instruction sheet. When I used pork bacon, it worked perfectly which is what the instructions said to use. Also, I took pictures with my new camera to show you, but I haven’t figured out how to transfer the pictures to my post. This next week our daughter is supposed to teach me how to do it. I want you to see for yourself how this bacon cooker is so clean and easy to use. Look for another post next week with the pictures.

AutismSpeaks.org

Years and years ago, autism used to be thought of as something rare. But it’s not rare, because one out of every 150 people are diagnosed with some type of autism, a complex neurobiological disorder. Several of my friends have children with autism. It affects their ability to communicate and relate to others. Please watch a beautiful, short video of a precious little girl and her family. Marriage is Not 50/50

Marriage is a total commitment, a commitment based on love. TV would have us think that if someone gets tired of their marriage or their marriage isn’t working, then they can just simply get a divorce and find someone new. That’s not what marriage is meant to be. It’s design is that it lasts a lifetime, that it’s based on unconditional love (the type of love that says I love you even when things aren’t going so well), and that each person gives 100%…not just 50%. When each person commits to giving 100%, then on a day when things aren’t going right and one person only gives 50% or less, then the other person makes up for it and vice versa. It works both ways. Each gives the other some slack and tries to be understanding. And on days when each is giving 100%, then those days are truly what marriage is meant to be.  It takes commitment and work to make a great marriage.  It doesn’t happen without effort.  And anything worthwhile is definitely worth the effort.
