Our two little grandsons had Western Day at their preschool recently. They didn’t wear Stetson Hats, but their pictures were so cute with them dressed in jeans and boots. There was even a horse for the children to ride, or at the very least to have their picture taken while sitting on it, and there were other activities for them to participate in. I sure wish I could have been there for their Western Day!
Menu Plan Monday 5/23/11
The school year is nearing the end and everyone is so ready for summer, students and teachers alike. I’m sitting here without much of a clue as to what we’re going to have on our menu except I do need to use up fresh produce, so that’s a given for this week:
Monday: Salmon patties, cauliflower, yellow squash and onions
Tuesday: Chicken Fajitas with onions, zucchini strips, & bell pepper strips
Wednesday: Chicken Tortilla Soup
Thursday: Leftover Chicken Tortilla Soup
Friday: Pizza
The Story Behind the Song: “I Still Believe”
Jeremy Camp and Melissa dated for four months and then spent some time apart. But things changed and Jeremy received a call that Melissa, age 20 at the time, was in the hospital and had just received the diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Several months later when she was feeling better, they got married. When they got back from their honeymoon, Melissa started having stomach problems. The doctor then gave them the dreaded news that she only had a few months to live, and she passed away on Feb. 5, 2001. I cannot imagine how hard that would be. Jeremy wrote this beautiful, passionate song after Melissa’s death.

Gift Baskets
Sometimes it’s hard to think of a special gift for someone you’re wanting to give a really nice gift. You know you want something above the ordinary and maybe different from the usual selection of gifts you tend to give. Gourmet Gift Baskets are one thing that comes to mind as a more unique gift. There are usually quite a few to choose from, and within the selection is something to please just about everyone. That’s one idea for a special gift for a special person.
Cord and Cable Organization
Have you ever had a bunch of cords and cables running from some electronic setup and wished you had a cable management system in place to organize everything compactly? I have before, and it’s so nice when all the cords and cables are not in a jumbled mess. I like things to be organized and efficient in using space, and that includes cords and cables!
My Exercise Plan
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m planning to start a regular exercise routine when school is out for the summer. I plan to do stretching, walking, and exercises with light weights. I don’t think I’ll need pre workout supplements, but it’s always good to check things out and research for myself. Who knows, maybe they would be good even for the light exercise program I am planning to start.
Cute Plates for Graduation Party

Aren’t these cute plates? I found these at Dollar Tree a couple of years ago. I know they had them again last year, so they may have them this year, too.
You can plan an inexpensive graduation party by getting paper items there. Below are some more ideas. The graduation cupcakes look great and can be used for any age. The ones in the link below were actually for a friend who just received her master’s degree.

Gifts for Him
It’s hard to believe that it’s already May. Next month will be June (aren’t you glad I told you that) and that means thinking about Father’s Day gifts. For those of you who have a male relative or friend whose birthday is in June, that means you will be thinking about birthday gifts for him. Some of you may be looking for Father’s Day gifts plus birthday gifts at the same time! Time to put on your “Gift Ideas Thinking Cap!”
Healthier Eating
Do you “stress eat?” I have been the past month, and now my pants are too tight in the waist. I am determined to lose the weight, though, through healthier eating and light exercise. I don’t need any diet pills since I’ve only gained a few pounds. School is nearly out for the summer, my stress level should drop significantly, and it should be easy to stick to an exercise routine and a healthy diet of fresh fruits & veggies!
Moving to a New Area
If you’re moving to a new area, it pays to do your homework! If you’re moving to Tucson, for example, it would be good to check out an attorney tucson has to offer and check out medical facilities, doctors, schools (if you have children), churches, and shopping areas. You would want to know where the post office is located in case you need their services, where automotive shops are located, and the list goes on. A good idea is to brainstorm and make a list of all the places and services you use at your present location before you move. Then you’ll have a great list to work from when you move to your new location.
Saving Money in This Economy
With this economy, a lot of people look for sales in order to save money, and many use coupons as well. They watch for sales on diapers, food, toiletries, and the necessities of life. Finding the best price on gas is what a lot of guys (my husband and our son included) like to do, and some might look for automotive items, or lawn care items. A lot of women like to find sales on clothing for their family, toys for their children, and household items. Saving money in all these different areas adds up in a year’s time and can really help!
