Helping Our Skin

Acne is such a pain.  I don’t know of very many people that haven’t had a problem with it at some point in their life.  I know I had a problem with it and remember having to go to the dermatologist when I was in high school.

There are some things we can do to help our skin, whether we have acne or not, such as eating:

  • a healthy, high-fiber diet
  • raw fruits and veggies
  • almonds and cashews which contain oxalic acid
  • whole grains
  • sunflower seeds
  • grapes, strawberries, and pineapple because they’re high in alpha-hydroxy acids

Drinking eight glasses of water per day is great, too.

A lot of people use topical solutions to help their skin.  Some people work on blackhead removal.  Whatever they use, they should research various products to find what works for them.

Designer Style Eyeglasses

I have to wear reading glasses and at some point in the next year or two, I will probably need to wear eyeglasses full time. I am thinking about progressives, but they are so expensive. And I will probably have to get a new prescription every year for the next two or three years. So I hate to spend a lot of money on lenses that I will have to replace in a year.  I am seriously considering checking out discounted online progressive eyeglasses, at least for this first pair, and see how I like them.  I plan to take it a year at a time!

Anti-wrinkle Pizza

There’s actually a pizza called the “Anti-wrinkle Pizza,” and it can be found in Italy.  There are mixed feelings about it as some locals like the traditional recipe, but this pizza offers three times the fiber, is loaded with antioxidants, and is popular with some well known locals.  I would definitely like to try it!  However, I don’t think I will be going to Italy anytime soon.  Let me know if you know of a place in Texas that has it.  🙂


Uses of Herbs

Herbs are popular for so many things nowadays.  Not only are they used for cooking, but they’re also used for medicinal purposes, shampoos, facial moisturizers, etc.  There is even an herbal acne treatment which is all natural.   The great thing about herbs is that they are natural.  Because of that, I would love to take a class on herbs and learn all about their different uses!

As we age, we tend to get unwanted wrinkles, some of us more so than others. I think we notice our own wrinkles a lot more than other people do. If a person has a nice smile, most people will notice the smile first. Still, wrinkles are a concern to people, and they might use something like the top wrinkle cream in order to minimize their wrinkles. Just remember that a friendly smile is one of the best assets you have!

If you know someone who is looking for an acne treatment, I hope they find something that works. Our daughter used Proactive when she was a teenager, and it didn’t work for her. She tried it for a while and finally quit using it. In fact, she tried several different things. In her case, going to a dermatologist worked best for her. Everyone has to find what works for them.

For the Love of Horses…Equestrian Clothing

Her love of horses is contagious, and she is teaching a two-year-old girl how to ride horses. This little girl just happens to be our daughter’s close friend’s little girl. Now this petite, feminine, little blonde haired two-year-old has developed a love for horses. She was scared of them at first, but now she absolutely adores thems! Her mom needs to check out equestrian clothing! Wouldn’t that be cute to see this tiny little girl dressed in riding apparel!

“Head Up, Shoulders Back”…”And Don’t Slouch!”

posture-corrector-4-08.jpg It’s hard to always have good posture while doing all the things we have to do during the day. I think the worst time for me is when I’m sitting at the computer or driving in the car. I really have to concentrate so I don’t slouch.

I’ve thought about a posture corrector before and seriously thought about buying one. Having good posture helps me to breathe deeper, and deep breathing is so important for oxygenating the blood.

My doctor told me on my last visit (she’s such an awesome doctor) that one reason some elderly people can’t get rid of pneumonia is that their rib cage is affected by all the years of slouching. They can’t cough deeply enough like they need to in order to clear their lungs of the congestion. That definitely made me want to work on my posture!

And one of the best fashion tips is to have good posture and “don’t slouch!”

Small Dog Stuff

I just saw some of the cutest things for little dogs at Small Dog Stuff. We have a medium sized Dachshund, and our daughter and s-i-l have an even smaller one. I don’t dress our dog, but our daughter will dress “Josie” from time to time. I have to admit that Josie looks absolutely adorable when she’s dressed up, and I think she knows it, too. lol 🙂

Old Navy…Oh, no!!!!

I just read that Old Navy stores’ sales have been down and are responsible for pulling down the overall sales for the three Gap stores: Gap, Old Navy, & Banana Republic. Soon, Old Navy stores may turn into Gap stores. I don’t want Old Navy to go away! We’ve been shopping there for over a decade. It’s a great place to get baby clothes for Baby J, too!
